Kenneth Fleming obtained a doctoral degree in mass communication and journalism in 2005 and an MBA in finance in 1993 from University of Missouri. His research interests include the relationship between social capital and mass media, health communication, political communication, and research methodology. He has extensive experience in social science survey research including research design, survey instrument development, sampling, data collection and complex data analysis.
He was responsible for research design, data collection and data analysis of the Online Journalism Credibility Study on behalf of RJI for Associated Press Managing Editors in 2007. The study findings provided valuable information to newspapers about the credibility of online journalism, practice of good journalism and interaction between readers and editors. Fleming has been working with researchers of the National Conference of Editorial Writers to conduct The Opinion Pool project to examine the important relationship of newspaper editorial pages to public affairs, civic engagement and community life.
He has presented and published scholarly papers at conferences of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the International Communication Association, the American Public Health Association, and in Mass Communication & Society, Journal of Health Communication, Journalism & Mass Communication Educator, Asian Journal of Communication and other academic journals.
