Interactive Panel Discussion of the Importance of Advertising Ethics

October 14, 2009: 10 AM – 12 Noon in the Fred W. Smith Forum at RJI -- available via livestream

A cadre of advertising industry leaders will be coming on campus to interact with professors and students on the importance of advertising ethics to the business of advertising and to its professionals.  Hosted jointly by the Reynolds Journalism Institute and the Missouri School of Journalism the panel discussion will take place at the Fred W. Smith Forum.  The session is open to the professors and students from all of the journalism school sequences.

We are pleased to announce that AOL is the sponsor of the panel discussion and AOL Chair and CEO, Tim Armstrong, will be on campus and participate as a panelist.

  • How can companies benefit from ethical advertising through online blogging/social networking and other digital communication?

  • How do we insure high ethical practices considering the complexities of advertising, including prescription drug advertising and financial advertising?
  • What influences are we facing from the government, including FTC and Congress, relating to the ethics of Behavioral Advertising and Green Claims?
