RJI Facilities
RJI Facilities build on existing buildings and new construction at the northeast edge of historic Francis Quadrangle at the University of Missouri.
The Reynolds Journalism Institute’s (RJI) 30,000-square-foot facilities offers lab space, meeting rooms, library facilities and other resources for students, faculty and visitors exploring the future of journalism and all of its diverse specialties.
RJI is located on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, Mo. RJI occupies prominent space at the northeast part of the main campus of the university in what was formerly known as the Sociology Building, part of Walter Williams Hall and new space constructed between the two buildings.
RJI Futures Lab and Demonstration Center
RJI’s Futures Lab provides an environment where students, faculty and visitors can prototype journalism innovations for delivery to media audiences. Likewise, the Demonstration Center experiment with the use of emerging technologies in journalism and advertising.
Both the Futures Lab and Demonstration Center routinely open their activities and experiments to visits from media professionals and citizens. They make findings available to both technology and media organizations as a service to industry and the public.
The Frank Lee Martin Journalism Library
— part of the larger MU Libraries structure with all the benefits that go with it — houses the largest collection of journalism-related materials in the world
Lecture and Meeting Rooms
RJI Facilities include fully integrated lecture and meeting rooms with technology for conducting real-time and virtual seminars and conferences. These spaces aid in the work of visiting scholars, RJI experts and student groups alike. They also provide a space for the citizen-journalist interaction that is crucial to RJI’s mission
